Sturgis Jammers
About us
Sturgis Jammers (formerly known as Jazz Kringle and The Runaways) is the school jam band which combines students from both Sturgis East and Sturgis West. The group functions as the pep band for the school and typically performs at in-school functions and community events such as:
Hyannis Open Streets in the Spring and Fall
Hyannis Christmas Stroll, First Friday Events
Sturgis Convocation, Academic Awards ceremonies
Sturgis CAS Fair, Arts Awareness days
Other various events in the community
Who should join? Students in grades 9-12 are invited to participate in this extracurricular group. It is recommended that the student interested in joining this group feels comfortable solo performing or improvising which is why this group frequently is made up primarily of IB Music students.
What does the group play? This group primarily performs popular music. One of the reasons the kids love this group is because we can play whatever we want (that is appropriate)!
When does the group meet? The group meets to rehearse as needed for each individual event. Typically a sign up sheet is made for events to see who is available to participate. The members of the group vary from event to event according to availability.
Who do I contact if I'd like to join? Email the director, Mrs. Natalie Sheeler, the IB music teacher at Sturgis East. nsheeler@sturgischarterschool.org.
